Sydney Harris depicts the laborers, civil, and women’s rites movements through the years. His photos of the everyman tell the stories that make history. Ingrid Krein - Printmaking

A Room with a View Gallery hosts ‘Baobaby’

In this exhibition, inspired by the Baobab tree, Ingrid Krein’s sensitive hand leads you to a world that leaps between reality and a subconscious world. Once one looks past the rough exterior of the Baobab tree it is found that it’s great usefulness can sustain an entire community. In the same vein, Baobaby brings us to a point of reflection past the surface to a subconscious space that may otherwise lie dormant. Be the first to see her most recent work.

Stina Kaz - mixed media

A Room with a View Gallery hosts 'No-Tell Motel'

In this exhibition, inspired by a motel strip in Lincolnwood, Chicago Stina Kaz’s work is simultaneously urbane and beautiful. The figures surrounded by slick vinyl and kitschy patterns create friction between the natural and the synthetic. Just as the subjects of her work may be unable to cope we too, in our busy urban world of media saturation, may find ourselves in limbo. Be the first to see her most recent works. October 19th, 2006 - 'A room with a View Gallery' hosts - Anatomies - recent prints by - Chris Flynn

In this exhibition Flynn presents an interior look at human portraiture.  While x-rays are the primary source of inspiration, his use of layering brings us something beyond imagery from the source. His exceptionally detail oriented work finds further saturation when one considers it’s ability to portray an incommunicable state of internal experience.  When one is first confronted with the image it conjures thoughts of mortality but Flynn’s elegant hand comes and lifts you to a quiet moment of reflection.

Chris Flynn received his BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1999, concentrating in printmaking and drawing. Chris is the Master Printer at Anchor Graphics and has been with the organization since 1999.

November 16, 2006 - 'A Room with a View Gallery' hosts - Travel Times - recent prints by - Ellen Maloney

In this exhibition, Miss Maloney takes people, places, and moments from her travels that have left an ‘ear mark’ in her memory.  Through her expressive mark making she attempts to recreate the sensory overload that one succumbs to when found in a new place.  Her stories set a stage where nameless faces interact to create a dialogue for the viewer’s entertainment.  If you have ever spent time eavesdropping on a bizarre conversation or found yourself peeping around the corner to see what those strangers are up to, you will be right at home with her work.  Be the first to see her most recent work!

Maloney is an emerging artist.  Her B.F.A is in printmaking and drawing from Washington University in St. Louis.  Currently living in Chicago, she is exhibiting actively and is the Director/Curator of A Room with a View Gallery.  www.ellenmaloney.com

ilona

In this exhibition, Miss Baumbach examines the intersection between fine art, design and everyday life.  Her study of subtle variations recontextualizes functional design.  Inspired by the formal and emotional qualities of commonplace objects as well as the ‘high design’ of luxury goods, Baumbach takes disposable goods out of the realm of use and puts them on display for study and appreciation.

Miss Baumbach is a heavily awarded scholar.  A native Chicagoan, she is showing regionally throughout the mid-west and her work is rapidly joining collections.  Be the first to see her most recent creations.
