Resources

Anchor Graphics: great place for the beginner, expert, or even the curious. At Anchor you can take classes on printmaking or if you already know your way around a printshop you can use open studio hours for a nominal fee.

Murphy Hill Gallery: Chicago-based fine art gallery displaying an array of work in the media of painting, photography, sculpture, film, video and performance art.

Washington University Print Dept: my alma mater. They have a very innovative printmaking program – stats: largest press in country. Innovative papermaking. Amazing newly renovated space. Island Press is associated with the department so as a student you get to see how professional artists and openings are produced. Also, the studio you get is pretty killer.

Art of Chicago.net: I'm listed here.  Art of Chicago (dot Net) is an online resource site for those in the art community. It features Artist and Gallery Listings, an Art Event Calendar, Artists Stories, a Chicago Art Blog and more.

Palette & Chisel – Academy of Fine Arts: This place has a lots of classes and workshops for drawing, sculpting, and painting. I like their open studio for figure drawing. They have very professional live models, I think it’s only $10 or $15, and there’s always a comfortable group of artists to draw/paint with.

McClain’s Printmaking Supplies: this is a great site for anyone to visit. They specifically focus on relief printmaking supplies. If you don’t need supplies, they have an extensive gallery of images from other relief printmakers that I recommend checking out.

Tear It Up Papermaking Supplies: this site is not only a great place to get your supplies, they have simple instructions on basic papermaking (good for someone who needs a refresher).  They also offer up ideas for things you can do with paper.

Evil Prints – Tom Huck – woodcut-meister – rocker extraordinaire Coming soon to the website: ‘Huck’s Hour from Uranus’ I produced Huck’s eclectic radio show on KWUR. I’m going to put them on the site as soon as I figure out how.

Stina Kaz – multimedia artist

Brandon Anschultz – artist - acrylic and enamel on panel and paper

KWUR 90.3FM – I worked for KWUR for 5 years. KWUR has been around for 30 years. It is a radio station dedicated to underground music only. Any genre as long as it’s not top 40. If you don’t live in St. Louis you can listen on the internet. If you are a music lover, you would be in heaven in their studio. Wall to wall vinyl. Wall to wall cd’s. it’s amazing!
